About Hickory Nut Fencing
Hickory Nut Fencing was established in 2003 by Tony Struna and his son, Ed Struna. Each morning they tended to their Holstein dairy cows, then spent the day building fences using an International 756 tractor equipped with a Kiwi post driver. By evening, they returned home in time for milking and called it a day.
The name “Hickory Nut Fencing” comes from the original family farm, Hickory Nut Farm, which Tony and his wife Randee purchased in 1976 before renaming it Struna Holsteins. The property is surrounded by Hickory trees, which inspired the original name.
In 2007, as the dairy operation changed, Ed began building fences on his own. For three years he worked independently, often with the help of his wife and kids, before hiring his first full-time employee.
Today, Hickory Nut Fencing remains a small, family-oriented business based in Williamsfield, Ohio, where Ed and his wife Margaret live and have raised their three children.
